When water and earth clash , all sorts of patterns are shaped : rimples, long lines , meanders ,surf lines , breaking points … Different types of soil make for different colorations : muddy browns,& bright blues , leafy greens ,metalliferous reds.

Named after an old Venetian palace , this design would perfectly blend in there, in the oblique light of the winter in Venice. The other colours all carry names of old Venetian and Italian noble families of the Renaissance

MAD MEN

CRACKS

A new design for the Mad Men collection. It shows a surface of cracked ice, as on the ice rink of Rockefeller Square.

It also represents the world below the surface, the deep blue of the abyss, the darkness of the mineshaft with the lode of gold at the bottom, or the far corners of a pinewood forest.

The Mad-ison men were the golden boys of the sixties, who “dreamed up” the images of the iconic brands of the USA. Inspired by this theme, De Poortere has created a new collection of “Vintage sixties” rugs.

A mix of straight and broken lines, of dull and shining yarns, of smooth and ragged pencil strokes.

GRIFF

Madison Avenue runs between Park Avenue and Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Since the Twenties, it has been the centre of the American advertising industry.

Here we find an indication of pain and disorder, of the rifts and big changes like Women’s Lib, Vietnam, The Black Panthers, and May 68 but also of the creative energy of action painting in the late sixties.

Over a century of skill and craftsmanship is woven into every rug we produce. Woven on jacquard Wilton looms in a combination of pure new wool and cotton chenille, each beautiful rug has multiple layers of texture, distressed areas and intricate stitching detail to give a true ‘vintage’ look.

Woven in a fashionable flat weave construction, all our rugs are hand finished with reinforced corners and an anti-slip layer for a secure fit. There is a superb choice of sizes available too, ensuring there is a size just right for every room in the home.
